About Madi
Hi, I'm Madi!
I’m a birth doula serving Salt Lake County, Utah County, & Tooele County. I’m also the founder of Madi Bloom Doula and available for virtual doula services.
My Doula Journey
My journey into becoming a doula began in early 2024, fueled by a deep desire to support women in the birth space and ensure they feel safe through informed consent and advocacy. My own experience as a mother shaped this calling.
In 2022, I became pregnant with my daughter and battled hyperemesis gravidarum throughout my pregnancy. When my daughter was born in March 2023, I faced a traumatic birth experience, including an episiotomy performed against my explicit wishes. This left me with both physical and emotional scars. In the weeks and months that followed, I struggled to heal and fell into postpartum depression.
While processing my own pregnancy and birth, I found myself drawn to the stories of other women, those I knew personally and others I connected with online. Their experiences opened my eyes and my heart to the urgent need for greater support and guidance for birthing women.
I’ve always been surrounded by strong women and considered myself one too. Growing up, I played softball from the age of eight, eventually earning the opportunity to play collegiate softball at Utah Valley University, where I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and a minor in Marketing in 2022. As a team captain, I developed leadership skills and a passion for guiding, supporting, and uplifting women. I never expected those qualities to guide me toward becoming a birth and postpartum doula, but the challenges I faced during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum have helped me find a true sense of purpose and belonging in this path.
Now, I feel honored each time a mother invites me into her birthing space, trusting me to help create a safe and spiritual experience during one of life’s most transformative moments.
Outside of Doula Work
When I’m not attending births or supporting mamas, you can find me soaking up the sun on a walk, reading in the bath, or relaxing on my couch with a view of the beautiful Utah Lake. My family means everything to me, and I love making memories together by camping, celebrating holiday traditions, and enjoying big family vacations.
Why the Cactus Logo?
The cactus in my logo is deeply personal and symbolic. After having my daughter and navigating the challenges of hyperemesis gravidarum, a traumatic birth, and postpartum depression, I had a moment of clarity during a therapy session at Serenity Recovery and Wellness. My therapist shared that every woman who goes through childbirth has a moment when she “blooms” into something new: a mother.
As I searched for a way to visually represent this feeling, nothing resonated until I came across the image of a cactus. A cactus blooms flowers in harsh, unforgiving environments, a reminder of resilience and beauty even in the toughest conditions. That imagery became deeply tied to my motherhood journey: the struggles I endured, the growth I achieved, and the joy of blooming into my role as a mother.
Now, my logo serves as a reminder of the strength and beauty inherent in every woman’s journey to motherhood. It’s an honor to help each mother I serve nurture her own unique bloom.
